WELCOME TO THE UPPER TERREBONNE
WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
The stakeholders of the Upper Terrebonne Basin (UTB) in central Louisiana welcome you to the Upper Terrebonne Basin Water Quality Improvement Project website. Our watershed spans portions of Iberville, Point Coupee, and West Baton Rouge Parishes (Tri-Parish Partnership) between the Mississippi River and the Atchafalaya Spillway. Our work began when various grass-roots interest groups who were looking to improve the water quality in the UTB identified several watershed-wide problems, including: poor water quality, erosion, sedimentation, loss of fishery habitat, litter, waterborne debris, and flooding. The project is a cooperative effort between the Tri-Parish Partnership, the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
